China Embraces Plant-Based Living with V March 2025
In March 2025, something remarkable took place. China, home to over 1.4 billion people and one of the largest meat-consuming nations launched a national campaign to promote plant-based living. Called V March, the initiative brought together more than 40 vegan restaurants, cafés, and retailers across cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
The response was powerful. 58 percent of participants followed a fully vegan diet throughout the month, and 80 percent said they plan to continue making plant-based choices going forward.
This isn't just local news. This is a global shift. When a country of China’s size takes meaningful steps toward plant-based awareness, it changes the tone of the entire conversation. It shows that a better food system is possible, even in the most complex and traditional markets.
For advocates, environmentalists, and future generations, China’s V March is a clear signal: the world is paying attention and progress is happening.
